Lino Print Health and Safety

Lino printing Heath and Safety:

Lino Cutting:

  1. Never cut towards yourself cut outwards and away from you.
  2. Cut on a cutting block.
  3. Keep your non cutting hand out the way of the area you are cutting round.
  4. Throw all off-cut strips in the bin at the end and leave your area tidy.


Lino Printing:

  1. Wear an Apron to protect your clothes and either gloves or barrier cream on your hands to protect your skin.
  2. Clean equipment with soap and water and only pack away when dry and ink free.
  3. If you get ink on your clothes or skin wash off with warm soapy water.
  4. If you get the ink on the work surface wash down with soapy water and dry with paper towel to prevent the ink from transferring onto other peoples work or skin.

Sewing Machine Health and Saftey

Health and Safety when using the Sewing machine:


  1.  Do not leave the machine unattended.
  2. Never leave machine plugged into electrical socket when not in use.
  3. Do NOT Use machine if the plug or cord is damaged  and report the fault.
  4. Make sure the machine leads do not become a tripping hazard by tucking them under your work area. 
  5. Ensure there are no blockages in the air openings on the machine.
  6. Make sure you keep your fingers out the way of moving parts such as the needle.
  7. Do not use needles that have been bent.
  8. When pulling/pushing fabric under the needle be careful as this can make the needle snap.
  9. Switch the machine off if you are making adjustments.
  10. Before you disconnect the machine ensure all the controls are switched off.
  11. Be careful when lifting up the machine.
  12. Do not ware headphones when using the machine.
  13. Do not have or use liquids near the machine.
